So, what the hell are you moving to the north of Scotland for? The question most asked of me, when my wife and I jacked in our jobs in November last year and moved 500 miles north from Northamptonshire in England to the Aberdeenshire. Well, there were several reasons, here’s one:

This is Loch Muick (pronounced ‘Mick’) and its set on the edge of the wild and rugged Cairngorm mountain range – and its now just over an hour from my house. I love the mountains, lakes and wide open spaces and this just ticks all of the boxes. Our twins, Tom & Pat accompanied us on this 7 mile circular walk and had a great time. It took about 5 hours all told, including a quick lunch, and Tom pushing his new waterproof boots too far, and flooding them over the top! A popular spot, but there are moments when you feel you’re the only people out there and it is truly fantastic. The north of Scotland is a beautiful place, and a visit will be well rewarded. Why did I move here? Hmm, let me see..
