Is it nearly Wednesday already?

We’ve been having some interesting weather this week, heavy snow that didn’t settle, lashing rain, sun & a hard frost and now back to rain and gales again. Fortunately when we headed for Scolty Hill on Sunday it was a day of blue skies and white frosts:

Pat on Scolty Hill

Here’s Pat working his way up the hill. This was one of the few times he or Tom was at the back. They get a bit bored walking the forest tracks, but show them some rocky slope or streams to cross and they’re gone.

Scolty Hill is a small (but steep!) hill overlooking Banchory in Aberdeenshire and is popular with the locals for an after lunch walk. We prefer to get there early and have it to ourselves! At the top is a memorial to General Burnett who I really can’t be bothered to look up – here it is:

Scolty Hill Tower

That’s Tom already at the top, and poor old Steph labouring up in his wake  As you can see you can climb to the top, and here’s the view:

View from Scolty Hill

Which made the climb all the more worth it. And we were back home in time for Sunday lunch too

  3. It does look like a grand view. Almost worth getting up early on a Sunday…. but wouldn’t the view be just as nice after lunch?

OK, I am just curious. What do you guys have for lunch? Is your diet much different than ours in the US? Lovely photos BTW. :)

  5. Chris says:

Hard to say Webduck, all we hear about a US diet is that it contains 95% processed food, huge portions and most of it is coated in sugar-which is about as accurate as thinking we drink tea all the time, worship her majesty and all have cockney accents like Dick Van Dyke in Mary Poppins.

To answer you first question last, I can’t remember ;-) Think it was Roast Chicken, potatoes, Yorkshire pudding and veg, which is actually quite stereotypical. Hey ho. ;-)

  6. wow!!! awesome pics.the last pic was especially cool.the clouds over the hills pic was a sight to behold.i can only guess as to how wonderfully ur time must have passed.
