The following Bloggers have all either switched off word verification, or chosen not to use it on their blogs. Will you follow?

Claire - A little piece of me

Crunchy Carpets - Blog one and blog two.

Melissa - Grossly Unimaginative.

Erika

Wayne’s World

Webduck - Pentimento

Bella Snow

This post shows my opinion on why you should turn it off for a while, and Skittles started this off a while ago. If that’s not incentive enough, anyone agreeing to turn it off, or commenting against it will get a link like these blogs.

If you do nothing else blog-wise today, why not visit the above blogs and leave a comment saying thanks for turning it off? After all, it’s easier now you don’t have to decipher the word verification…

  1. Hey! I did it too — when Barb asked in the first place — and actually it hasn’t worked out too bad. I’ve only had to delete one really spammish comment.

Does “spammish” qualify as a word?

  2. That is a great idea!!!

I think I will spread the word!!!

I’m commenting against it. I’ll not go so far as to say I hate it, because I guess that for some it has a use. Although like you ask, it would be interesting to know just how many spam comments it filters.

I’m on WordPress and the Aksiment (sp?) plugin is enough to keep me right.

  4. Chris says:

Akismet does the job for me as well.

Spammish will do for me! :-)

Bee told me about turning off the word verification. I’m glad I did! No problems since.

  6. Skittles says:

Applause! Someone once told me she got over 50 spams a day.. then I remembered who said it.. ;)

  7. Chris says:

Wonder who you could mean? Perhaps she annoyed lots of people who signed her up to dodgy mailing lists :-D

I’d never do anything like that….

  8. erika says:

Thanks for the link love!! and for getting people to turn of the WV!

  9. Asara says:

I’ve never had it on!! Never ever! Where’s MY link, huh, huh, huh??? ;)

  10. Chris says:

Calm down Asara, there’ll be another update shortly…

  11. Asara says:

    oh.
    ok.
    *breathes*
I’m better now. Thank you. ;)
