The Ultimate Gift is a film. Out on March 9th, it stars Academy Award Nominee, Abigail Breslin (Little Miss Sunshine) along with established stars James Garner, Brian Dennehy and Drew Fuller. It is about a man whose Grandfather dies, leaving him not the expected huge inheritance, but instead twelve tasks or ‘gifts’ which are designed to challenge him in different ways, and to help him understand what is truly important in life: money or happiness.
The Ultimate Gift is also a book written by Jim Stovall, who, despite the handicap of blindness succeeded in becoming an Olympic weightlifter, successful investment broker, entrepreneur and author. His story of how a self made millionaire made a fortune and destroyed his family, before giving a final series of gifts to his great nephew has captivated millions around the world.
Finally, The Ultimate Gift is growing into a philanthropic movement, that is gaining pace by the day. Despite the film not yet being released, only 300 pre-screenings have already resulted in over $5 million in charitable donations, and has prompted 20th Century Fox to release it in 800 screens nationwide, which is amazing for a small budget film. The weekend of the films opening on the 9th March has been designated the ‘Weekend of Giving’ and $1 from every cinema ticket sold will be donated to a charitable group of your choice.
