The End

The End?So that’s it then. No more blogging, after today it’s all switched off, gone.

So what was it all about, the last 6 months? I only started because I so enjoyed the geeky tasks of creating my own website, that I wanted something to update every day, and get my fingers into the hidden workings. I typed something like ‘how to blog’ into Google and came up with WordPress and Steve Pavlina as two links I followed, and I’m glad I did. WP for the tools to do the job properly, and Steve’s site which convinced me I could do it.

I remember my first post, and how I promised to update a couple of times a week. I remember my first ever comment from Carol, and how exciting it was that someone actually came to visit. I found Skittles blog I know not how, but she promoted my blog for some reason and people came and visited, and through her overflowing comment boxes I found people like Kai, Claire and The Curmudgeon, along with the cool memes like Wordless Wednesday etc. that lead to so many other blogs.

My 1000th visitor was Oseas, the 1000th comment was Claire, and I nearly made it to 1000 posts (981)…

I started two other blogs, and people also visited them, people left nice comments and seemed to think I know something about blogging which amuses me no end. I’ve chatted to people all over the world, had some cool emails, found and received some amazing art, and converted no end of people to Wordpress :-)

I’ve felt a bit tired with things recently, seemingly ill or injured I just haven’t got out on my bike, and as a result my brain seems clogged up-I know this blog in particular has been a bit rank the last month, so perhaps it’s a good thing that blogs are being switched off tomorrow.

But then how else will I get to know (however vicariously) people from Canada, Australia, the US, Philippines, and even Cornwall, Nottingham and Widnes - I live in a small village in Scotland!

Maybe it’s a bad thing blogs are getting switched off, maybe they make us less insular, they put us in touch with the real people around the world, instead of the fakes like politicians, TV, film or sports ’stars’. You can find people just like you, who live 10,000 miles away.

But the biggest question I’m left with: What do I do now?

Why is blogging ending? Find out here.
