I have been visiting Austria and Germany for over 20 years, although it’s unfortunately been 3 years since the last visit, but two cities I’ve yet to visit that I’d like to are Vienna and Berlin.

If you’re looking to stay in the capital of Austria, then you should have no trouble finding good hotels in Vienna, ranging from guest houses to stunning international hotels. Vienna is very different from the Tirol area that I have visited, but it is famous for it’s opera, architecture and of course it’s coffee houses! There are few countries in the word that do coffee and cake better than Austria, as I know from experience…. Hotels in Vienna are likely to fill up fast in high season, so remember to book ahead, or check out the linked sites for last minute deals.

Hotels in Berlin, the historic capital of Germany, are equally likely to be popular, and indeed, Berlin is enjoying quite a burst of popularity as a weekend away destination. History lies on every street corner, from the rebuilt Reichstag, to the historic Brandenburg Gate, to more recent history such as Checkpoint Charlie and the stunning and controversial Hauptbahnof, the new central station. I’m going to keep researching hotels in Berlin, and maybe next year who knows?
