This is my first photo hunt & the theme is memory.
This is a nice memory, although a bittersweet one.
This is my Dad driving a steam train in June 2001. It was a lifelong ambition of his. My sister paid for him to have a railway experience for Fathers day, and we all went along, my wife pregnant with our twins. He had a fantastic time, and it was a great day. We drove away that evening and it was the last time I saw or spoke to him. He died less than a week later for reasons connected with his diabetes, while on holiday in Austria. He was only 60. It was a good day out. A good memory.

I’m sorry about your loss. What a sweet photo and memory. I can only imagine how much that day meant to him!
Awwwwww… that is bittersweet! How GREAT though that he got to HAVE that experience before he died! And what a sweet picture that is of him too! MY husband would like to have that experience! How do you GET that???
Chris, I just wanted to come back and offer my condolences to your loss. I lost my mother to diabetes.
What a wonderful memory of your dad. It was neat that he was able to do something he loved and that his family was there with him. Have a nice weekend.
What a bittersweet memory! He looks really happy and it’s nice he was able to live his dream. I’m sorry for your loss. Thanks for visiting my blog and have a wonderful weekend.
Thanks everyone. You’re right it was a great day, and he loved Austria above any other place, so if he had to go, he did it in style:-)
Welcome to the hunt.
Love the train. I only remember being on a train twice in the US but in Europe they are marvelous. I’m so glad your father got to have this dream fulfilled.
Mine is up too.
It’s sure a bittersweet memory.
BTW, those comments are not going to kill me. They are just smiles, good things come with small pachage:-)

That’s a wonderful memory, what a special day for your dad!!
A great picture. It’s too bad you dad passed. It is a good thing on the other hand that he got to live out a dream of his.
Oh wow, how lucky you all were to be able to have such a great time with him before his passing, especially immersing him in his lifelong dream.
Mine is up too.
That was a great day, though they wouldn’t let me drive the train as fast as I would of liked!
