Saturday again!

Concorde

This weeks theme is Technology, so I chose this picture of the supersonic jet airliner Concorde. I took this photo last year at the Museum of Flight, just outside Edinburgh. I find this picture a little sad: this amazing aircraft used to fly at 40,000 feet and at 1,300 mph. Now it just sits there, and no airliner on Earth can go as fast. It’s still beautiful though.

Great photo! It is sad that we no longer have any commercial supersonic jets in service. Technology seemingly has gone backwards! Terrific choice.

It’s a beautiful plane and too bad it just sits there and not get used. Love your picture. Thanks for sharing and have a great weekend.

Amazing aircraft. I didn’t think the problems they had merited grounding though. I’m surprised no one could think of a way to fix them. Good post.

  14. Chris says:

Hello everyone, thanks for dropping by. The plane was killed by a mixture of economics & jealousy. Sir Richard Branson offered to but them for £1 to keep them flying, but BA refused & hurriedly took them out of service. Some are still left rotting at Heathrow. Guess BA didn’t want another airline to use them, and there’s a fair bet Branson would have made money out of them.

When you consider it was British & French taxpayers money that built them, it shouldn’t have been a decision for a now private business like BA…
