Whilst on my run of useful information, I must mention Open Web Design. This wonderful site is a forum and resource for website designers to showcase their designs. They currently have over 2000 web templates for free download. They are all open-source, which means you can download, tweak and use for free on your own site. Usually the only request from the designer, is to leave a small unobtrusive credit at the bottom of the page - not too much to ask I’d say.

To give an example of their talents, have a quick look at my other website Bigstone. I know little about HTML, less about CSS, and could never have given my site this look on my own. Using the Hyper template from Donny Burnside however, I think the site looks pretty good (despite my content!).

So if you’d like to give your site a polish, check out their designs, I’m sure you’ll find something. And if you get stuck editing, the forums are very friendly too.
