10 Things about me

1. I am so boring, that I struggle with these even if they only require one snippet of interest….
2. I can speed read, and have done since school. I was frequently 30 or 40 pages ahead during English class, which made it difficult when the teacher told me to start reading, but not for the reason he assumed. I outlined the plot over the next 3 chapters and he shut up.
3. I can listen to two things at once, which annoyed my teachers and now my wife immensely. My boys have inherited this happy skill.
4. With the exception of potatoes (obviously) I like my cooked vegetables about as hard and crisp as when they came out of the ground. Probably as a reaction to an old fashioned Mum who boils the life out of veg, and then gives it another 10 minutes to make sure. “Mum, should broccoli be white?”
5. I’ll drink most beers (but prefer a dark ale) and most wines (but like smooth reds) but I think that spirits should only really be used for cleaning paint brushes.
6. I, like Scott Adams, don’t really consider myself intelligent enough to have ‘carved in stone’ opinions on the big issues. Is there a God as described in the books? Is Global warming fact or fiction? Can Dubya really be that stupid? This is why I don’t prattle on about them here, I just try to get through life by looking after my family, and being nice, or at worst neutral, to other people unless they incite me otherwise. But I cannot abide bigots who pour hatred upon people because they’re black, foreign, gay whatever. I’ve met enough white, male, religious, middle class, grade-A arseholes to know that you can only judge people individually, as a person. Start quoting that crap to my face, or on your blog & I’m gone.
7. I only have three blogs, but I really ought to start no.4 to discuss the above point in more detail.
8. I wanted to be a fast-jet pilot, but realised at an early age that I was both too lazy, and too talentless ever to achieve it. I have flown a Cessna for 10 minutes and it was the most natural thing I’ve ever done. Oh well.
9. Chocolate will be my downfall.
10. I am genuinely apolitical. I think they’re all self-serving reptiles and that the Groucho Marx rules on joining a club should be applied in every case.

No compulsory tags, but I’d be genuinely interested in the thoughts of Curmudgeon, Pinksy and Kai. They all seem fairly opinionated
