Itsmymarket.com is a relatively new UK focussed website showing classifieds and much, much more. It’s stated aim is to be a community based service offering classified ads, Community websites, traffic reports, local events, local news and more, and I would say they have succeeded in that! You can set your local area, via town name or postcode, and then set it to show you relevant information within a set radius, eg 50 miles. The amount of varying things going on in this site is amazing, but the way you can localise it could prove to be the clincher. You can set up you own blog, which is very presentable (I’d say more so than Blogger!) and provide RSS feeds etc. You can enter photo and other competitions. You can set up free ads, which are online for 30 days, provide news of your local event or setup a community website, you can even find out local traffic information! The site will live or die on how much interest it can garner, and at the moment there is nothing for my local area. But I can see it being a real boon for local organisations, especially those who are not web savvy, in getting a presence on the web and I wish them every success.
