Literally. A £45,000 ($90,000) Grand Piano was being moved to it’s new home when the removal team dropped it…

It had taken two years to raise the cash to buy the piano, which now looks to be a write off, as the prospective owner John Adie says:

“It is unlikely ever to come back to us.

“The piano weighs half a tonne, has 10,000 moving parts and has fallen 2.5m onto the ground.

“How the hell do you guarantee that it will work again?”

Even worse, it was only insured for the £26,000 auction cost, rather than it’s actual replacement value

Who’d want to be part of the removal team making that phone call to their boss?

Story from BBC News, where they have some photos of the piano hitting the deck.

  1. daaamn, that sucks. Moving a piano is a risky job though. We brought my upright with us, without much moving drama (just a 6 month wait while everything got held up in Singapore for some reason), when we moved to Oz from Malaysia and its never been quite right since.
