I Used To Believe….

This is a cool idea for a site: I Used To Believe.

The premise being simply that people enter things that they used to believe as a child, such as :

  • When I was little, I was always happy to have the top bunk so that in case a volcano erupted nearby, then I would be safe from flowing lava. I grew up near Chicago.
  • When I visited the public library as a little kid, I assumed most of the books in the grown-up section were filled with pictures of people “doing it”.
  • I used to believe that the inside part of the banana was poisonous, but fortunately the outside part was the antidote, so as long as you ate the whole thing, you’d be fine. I was told this by a microbiologist when I was 9 and believed him utterly.

Evil microbiologists are bad, mmkay?

A child’s trusting innocence is a wonderful thing to toy with  The trouble with our two is they’re too damn cynical, even at 5. You get fixed with a look of disgust and rolling eyes…

That’s my boys!

I just wanted to reassure you that the first guy you quoted wasn’t me.

Not that I’m not afraid of volcanos… heck, I’m afraid of everything… it’s just that I never had bunk beds….

Those are cute - my MIL told my husband that his recent nose bleeds were the result of him sucking his thumb. He was so terrified by seeing all the blood that he never stuck that thumb in his mouth again!

Oh, and as you’ve reset your comment counter I’ll add another one, because no doubt I’ll be swiftly bumped off the list by the usual suspects.

    Where’s Pinksy? I hope he’s okay.

I’d almost forgotten the counter (it’s automatic. I think Pinksy’s snowed under at work at the moment, either that or he’s converted and moving to Salt Lake City….
