With nearly 400 to choose from (aren’t digital cameras great?) I could post nothing else for the next 6 months and not run out, but even I’m not that nasty to my readers. A lot of the landscapey ones will be posted up on my photo blog, but here’s some of the others for all 2 of you that are interested
Home for the last 2 weeks was our shiny new tent. Surprisingly roomy, it even had it’s own LED lighting system and was very waterproof as we found out most nights. A good tent, but it certainly makes me appreciate my house even more!
Pat & Tom piloting the ‘Arctic Penguin’ now beached at Inveraray as a museum. Hard to believe this cramped little tub ever went to sea…..
The Glenfinnan monument where Bonnie Prince Charlie first stepped ashore in Scotland. A breath-takingly beautiful place, with breathtaking prices at the National Trust coffee shop……
Pat & Tom doing their best Braveheart impressions at Dunstaffnage Castle. Who let them buy a sword? Many, many thistles died that day……
Yes those are beavers, I’ll let you insert your own captions……
These photos are from the first week in the west of Scotland, near Oban. A very beautiful area, but quite remote, with often only a single road passing through, and you’re constantly skirting lochs, and mountain passes. Nice to visit, not sure I could ever live there.
I’ll post a few pics from the second week in Yorkshire tomorrow.

Oban looks nice. I like all that sort of thing. I’ve never been to Scotland. Mrs Pinksy wants to go for a holiday. I’m not much of a camper though. Are there guest houses?
Beavers? Did someone say beavers? Is this a new rodent thread?
OK, who DID buy the sword? I bet you could write a book and title it “Two Weeks In A Tent With Young Boys”.
Seriously, I can see that they are going to be handsome young men someday. Oh, and WHERE are the pictures of their Mom and Dad?
So your sons attacked you with swords after only one week in the tent? Or have I misread this?
And I just don’t know understand the beavers fit in….
I’d like to take this time and congratulation you on your awesome blog and inform you that you are in the running for Bestest Blog of the Year. You are up against 104 other excellent blogs that have all qualified by being “Bestest Blog of the Day” in the past 12 months. Voting starts TODAY (July 23rd) and will end in 2 weeks (August 6th). Winners will be announced on August 7th!
The winner will be receiving (at least) a $50 prize and a ton of new visitors I’m sure. Other blogs that finish in the top 10 will also be getting a few new links and extra exposure. Full details of the contest can be found here. So what can you do to increase your chances of winning?
1. Go vote for yourself (duh!)
2. Encourage others to vote for you. You can also find a nifty little graphic to include on your blog over at Bestest Blog.
3. Encourage others to register before voting. Registered users votes count 3 times more than guests.
4. Keep up the great blogging that got you here in the first place. People are going to be stopping by your blog before voting, and if you have some great, new content, that’ll surely increase your vote.
Again, congratulations and good luck! And if you’re interested in winning another “blog of the day” award and get in the running for next year’s award, check out the new “Blankest Blank Blog Directory.”
The smiles on your boys faces say they had a great family holiday!
Tents come with lights nowadays? Cool.
Glad you had a great time - can’t wait for more pictures!
We passed through the Oban area on my last trip to the UK. It really was a beautiful area. Wished we could have spent a bit more time there. Looks like you guys had an absolute ball.
