As part of Tom &? Pats fifth birthday treat, we took them to see the film flushed away. They loved it, sitting enthralled through the whole thing and laughing and giggling the whole time. Of course, Steph and I had to force ourselves to watch…
The film is excellent, typical of the team behind Wallace & Grommit, and the humour was beautifully mixed for children and adults-an example of this being when one of the rats ‘Whitey’ remarked on how how a bad curry the night before had made given him ‘a bum that looks like the Japanese flag’. Ian McKellen as the evil Toad absolutely chews the scenery at every opportunity, taking over-acting to new heights & is absolutely perfect. Indeed, all the casting is spot-on Hugh Jackman as the mouse-about-town, Bill Nighy as the afore mentioned Whitey and Jean Reno as the deadly French agent ‘Le Frog’.
So many moments to enjoy; the suspiciously familiar orange fish asking Roddy: ‘Have you seen my Dad?’; the frog team doing things the French Way (We Surrender!) and taking 5 hours over dinner, and even taking the mickey out of the England football team (not hard to do) this is a classic animation that I can’t wait to see again.? I mean take the boys to see again, of course.
