This is an excellent idea, and one I wish I’d thought of. SlashMySearch.com is a new search site, which aims to get more relevant results back to you. They filter results from Google, Yahoo!, Altavista and Excite, through their databases and some other sources in an effort to cut out the junk. Their database learns from previous searches, and what links proved the most popular, in order to continually improve the accuracy of the returned results. Another really clever idea, is that the search results appear in a frame, enabling you to easily get back to the search results if you need to explore further. The really smart option though is the ‘typo’ search for Ebay and Amazon. I had twigged to this a while ago, but it’s really common for Ebay sellers to mis-spell the listing of their items: Playstaiton instead of Playstation as an example. These listings will not come up in an ordinary search using the correct spelling, often meaning these mis-spelled items go really cheap. Simply toggle the typo option on SlashMySearch and it will automatically include various typos of the entered search term when searching Ebay listings, potentially saving you lots of money. Simple idea, but a very good one.
