You could probably devote an entire blog to this subject, but I’ll make do with a single post for now. I have actually seen some of these on TV, so most (if not all) are genuine:

Anne Robinson : What insect is commonly found hovering above lakes?
Contestant : Crocodiles.
Anne Robinson : Wh…?
Contestant (interrupting) : Pass!

BBC GMR, PHIL WOOD  SHOW (Give this host an ‘A’ for effort)
Wood : What “K” could be described as the Islamic Bible?
Contestant : Er…
Wood : It’s got two syllables… Kor…
Contestant : Blimey?
Wood : Ha ha ha ha no. The past participle of run…
Contestant : (Silence)
Wood : OK, try it another way. Today I run, yesterday I…
Contestant : Walked?

THIS MORNING
Judy Finnegan : The American TV show ‘The Sopranos’ is about opera. True or false?
Contestant : True?
Judy Finnegan : No, actually, it’s about the Mafia. But it is an American TV show,so I’ll give you that.

Lots more, including some Family Fortunes gems at office-humour.co.uk.

  1. you know, on the This Morning one I’m not sure whose the most stupid - Judy or the contestant

  2. Jay Leno does a man-on-the-street feature where he asks the most basic questions of passersby.

It is done in Hollywood, which is one factor in mitigation — but to say that nearly all of these people are dumber than a box of rocks is only to insult rocks everywhere. And the worst, and most frightening, are the college students….

  3. Scott Adams has it nailed on with his posts about ‘in-duh-viduals’. The world is a frightening place.

Are your universities full of people taking courses like ‘Media Studies’ where you just watch TV all day? I have no doubt it’s a government plan - keep the populace dumb, full of junk food and in front of Big Brother and they’ll never bother us…

    It’s working I think

  4. Was the contestant who thought crocodiles were insects named Bush?

  5. I think you give him too much credit…

  6. *lol* that last quote is kinda funny but the first two are shocking. reminds me of that who wants to be a millionaire episode where the contenstant was asked “which one is bigger? and amongst the 4 options were an elephant and the moon… this contestant decided that the elephant was the biggest thing on that list

  7. I’ve seen a screen cap of that :-)
