I don’t know how widespread around the globe this is, but this report on PC World has given me a cause for optimism-at least until the advertisers find a way round it…
I’m talking about that insidious practice of raising the volume of adverts way above the level of the program you were watching. It’s awful, the ad break comes on, you turn to say something to someone in the room, and all of a sudden you’re shouting over the top of some gurning, vacuous, bubble headed actress who hasn’t had a decent role since at least 1990 telling you ‘you’re worth it’. Yes I am Andie McDowell, but luckily for you, you’re not worth tracking down & slaying (I’ve also heard she’s handy with a bow & arrow, so…).
The product, Dolby Volume, senses what level you’ve set the TV at, and then automatically keeps it at that level, until you change it. Where do I sign?
