years old.
The family is eating a roast beef dinner-Both Patrick & Thomas are aware of where
meat comes from, and what happens for it to end up on their plate.
“Daddy?”
“Yes Patrick?”
” I like beef, why don’t we have it every night?”
“Well, it would be a bit boring, and its good to eat different foods. It would
cost too much money as well.”
“Why don’t we get our own?”
“We do Patrick, we get it from the farm shop and..”
“No, why don’t you go into the field and catch the cow?”
“You can’t do that Patrick, it’s the Farmers cow, he has to kill it, and then the
butcher cuts up the meat for the shop”
Patrick thinks, then looks up to Daddys Claymore hanging on the wall.
“But you have a sword, you could go into the field and chase the cow and..”
Mummy starts choking on her dinner, to avoid laughing at the mental image of me
re-creating Braveheart through a field of cows, Patrick looks at me questioningly,
while Thomas continues putting himself outside of his dinner as quickly as
possible.
“I don’t think the Farmer would like that Patrick. Or the cow.”
“But you could…”
“No Patrick, it’s not allowed”
“Hmm.”
Patrick continues thinking.
