Since the 8th November 2006, 10,000 hardy souls have ventured through this blog, and a few have even come back
Thanks to everyone who’s been here, it’s all good fun (well, for me at least), and hopefully it will long continue. Using the power of Statcounter, I have tracked down my 10,000th victim visitor and it is: Malnurtured Snay, who arrived here via Pinksy’s blog.

‘Snay looks like a cool random blog with a sense of humour, and I quite like that shade of red as well….. Worth a read for sure. Can I get a ‘Khaaaaaaan!’?

Well, I hope you like it (or can tolerate it at least).
I have upgraded to WordPress2.1 and it’s certainly faster for writing posts, I hope it’s a bit quicker from your end. My old template had to go, as it was not 2.1 compatible, and there were a few toys that I couln’t use either. I think this template makes everything a little easier to read as well.
The old favourites are all still here, Top Commentators to the top left, so the competetion can continue: There is also a new calendar based archive to the right: hover over to see the posts for that day, or click to read them. Underneath is a recent posts table, again clickable, followed by the 5 most recent comments under my email subscription box. More will follow as the blog develops.
Many thanks to all those who commented on my (many!) prospective designs – there were some truly stunning templates I found which looked wonderful in FireFox, but due to the fact that shoddy, non-standardised, Internet Explorer can’t display them properly, I couldn’t use them. For all those of you still using IE, do yourself a massive favour and get a proper browser – you’ll be amazed at how much better the web looks when it’s rendered properly, and not covered in adverts. We won’t even mention the security flaws…

Many thanks for all your comments & the time spent having a look – it’s very much appreciated.
The TestBlog is now on it’s third version which seems happier in IE – I haven’t had a chance to see if I can fiddle with it’s colours yet, but it looks nice initially.
As I’ve mentioned in the comments, my existing template will have to go, because it is not going to be compatible with all the new features of WP 2.1. I would like a 3 column layout, as I’m using one on Blog-Op, and I just think they look nicer. Still, I’m keeping an open mind.
I would also like to re-iterate my contempt for Microsoft for being unable to build a browser capable of rendering modern websites, constructed to international standards, properly. Their arrogance in ignoring this issue is truly amazing.

Given that my sidebar is about 3 miles long now, and the whole site just doesn’t look Web 2.0 enough, I thought it was time for a re-design.
So, I’d be grateful if you’d have a look at my Test Blog, and let me know what you think of my shiny new template. Feel free to leave comments here or over there. I won’t be changing blog address, just the template.
Oh, and if the left sidebar doesn’t look right to you, its probably because you’re using Internet Explorer – this browser is NOT standards compliant and therefore doesn’t show most modern websites correctly. Do yourself a favour and get a decent browser like Firefox – you’ll be amazed at how much better the internet looks!
Update: For those of you who didn’t like the red, how about the blue? Ta.

Apparently these are the new icons for MS Office – don’t look that different to me..

I’m still using Office 2000, last time I checked I could still write letters with it.

Thanks Skittles!
- If you could build a house anywhere, where would it be? With the usual caveat of ‘money no object’ I quite fancy one of the Scottish islands – one of the uninhabited ones…
- What’s your favorite article of clothing? A nice warm coat. Which is handy given where I live….
- Favorite physical feature of the opposite sex? Prisoners of the Playtex penitentiary
- What’s the last CD that you bought? Stadium Arcadium by the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
- Where’s your favorite place to be? A mountain top. Any mountain….
- Where is your least favorite place to be? Surrounded by assholes.
- What’s your favorite place to be massaged? I really do not like massages.
- Strong in mind or strong in body? The fuckers will not get me down.
- What time do you wake up in the morning? Breakfast time!
- What is your favorite kitchen appliance? That would be the coffee/cappuccino maker…
- What makes you really angry? People who go out of their way to give others a hard time.
- If you could play any instrument, what would it be? The electric guitar like John Frusciante…
- Favorite colour? Green.
- Which do you prefer…sports car or SUV? Unless you live in the boondocks, driving an SUV automatically renders you a tool. Not sure if a Sports car is that much better…
- Do you believe in an afterlife? Don’t know. But I hope there’s afterlife mints….
- Favorite children’s book? At the time, anything by Enid Blyton, especially the Famous Five. Still think they’re good actually, the PC brigade can go screw themselves. As long as they don’t offend anyone doing so.
- What is your favorite season? The Spring.
- Your least favorite household chore? Dusting. No sense of achievement as it all just returns…
- If you could have one super power, what would it be? Invisibility…..
- If you have a tattoo, what is it? I don’t, nor ever will.
- Can you juggle? Not even with one item …
- The one person from your past that you wish you could go back and talk to? My dad, because I can’t. Would have liked to talked to my Grandparents as well, they were interesting people. All gone before I was 6.
- What’s your favorite day? Payday? Saturday.
- What’s in the trunk of your car? In the boot of my car is a high-vis jacket, a snow shovel & a fuel can. No I was never in the scouts…
- Which do you prefer, sushi or hamburger? Never tried sushi, but I’m like to stick with the fillet steak burgers we get from our local farm shop…..
Right, my victims tags will be:
Webduck, Claire, MJBDiver, Crunchy’s new blog, and Pinksy.
Don’t feel you have to guys, I’ll just be round to check later….

As a poster said, Trippy: Simpsonuzu

It’s from 2004, so I don’t know if the comic ever came to fruition. Check out the link for a similar version of the Futurama cast, and the original Simpsons pic, in case you can’t work them all out.

Shamelessly stealing a good idea from Skittles, if you’re here for Wordless Wednesday, please scroll down 6 posts or click here. Thanks.
But if you click instead of scroll, you’re missing out on…, well, you’ll just have to read them.

Me! Hah!, how do you like them apples! Ahem, sorry about that, do excuse me.
But it’s true, No.1000 was me replying to Claire about PHP (like I know!), so the next comment left (999 was spam) by someone else after 1000 was..Claire! Saying she still didn’t get PHP… The proof:

So, what prize is most appropriate given her sterling comment efforts of the last 2 days? I think this says it all:

(I’ll try and think of something a bit nicer – feel free to make suggestions – Thanks to all those that comment, it really is the best bit about blogging for me, reading all your comments*)
*Perhaps I should get out more.

‘Twas the 8th November 2006 I installed WordPress and thought to myself ‘What am I going to blog about?’
Well, I soon found plenty of stuff to shamelessly steal be inspired by and I’ve somehow managed to come up with 310 posts about not very much at all. Thanks to everyone who’s been nice and given me a plug or 3, its very much appreciated.
Thanks especially to all those who comment, and come back every day to plug their own blogs read my ramblings. I need another 21 comments to reach 1000 (I think Claire will take care of that in the next 5 minutes) and another 320 visitors to reach 5000. I shall have to think of a prize…. (Monetary value not exceeding $0.01)
Thanks!
