Well, in Aarons case, yes they can. This is an interesting story thats still ongoing at this website: CanGoogleHearMe.com

Basically, Aaron has come up with an idea that he thinks Google will love, and wants to pitch it to them. He’s not sure if he’ll even get past the gates, so he sets up this website to document his journey. On February 11th 2007 he flew out to California to have a go, and then found that before you do anything else, you need to submit a web form…

Undeterred, he pressed on, and some really interesting developments have occured. His most recent post was only yesterday, and so far he’s recieved stacks of support emails, and somebody has even written him a song. Think I’ll bookmark this one, and see how he gets on - wonder what the idea is?
