Cadillac Sixteen

I have to say I’m not a huge fan of American cars - generally ugly, and needing a 500 litre engine to do 95 MPH, whilst simultaneously consuming enough petrol to fill a supertanker.

But…. I saw this on an old Top Gear re-run and well, see for yourself:

OK, so it’s a ludicrous 13.6l engine, but 1000hp and selective use of cylinders…..mmmm. Did they ever make any more?

    All the numbers flew right over my head, though did they say SIXTEEN cylinders can be brought into play? Even I know that’s a lot!

    “Leather like a supermodel’s buttocks” is a pretty strong selling point.

    4 cylinders for normal driving, 8 for acceleration and if you floor it all 16 start working! :twisted:
