But don’t worry, they should level out at around 100 million, according to this BBC article.
It’s a fair point they make, that pretty much all of those people who are going to write a blog have done so. However, what about children becoming adults who write blogs? Surely there’s a never-ending supply of ego-centric type-aholics (I include myself there). Mind you, it’s a fair point the author made that;
those who loved blogging were committed to keeping it up, while others had become bored and moved on.
Some interesting numbers here: Technorati are currently tracking nearly 60 million blogs, and are seeing an average of 100,000 new blogs a day, with an average of 1.3 million posts daily (Remove Skittles from the figure though, and it drops to approximately six). Do make sure you’ve claimed your blog on Technorati, and ‘Favorited’ your favourite blogs. You’ll get more traffic, and see who’s reading you & linking to you.
The figure that made me pause though, was that 200 million blogs have been abandoned in some way, given up. How long have you been blogging now? Will you still be here next year? I intend to, time will tell…
