I have long been a fan of the brilliant XKCD comic as all 3 of you regular readers will know,and I’ve happily stumbled across the blog of the author, Randall. Or as he would have it, the XKCD ‘blag’.

It’s well worth a read if you like the comic, and even if you don’t, just for quirky science-ing observations and an all-round good read, as demonstrated by this Assault On Battery post:

Did you know that this is what most 9V batteries looked like inside? And that they are actually called AAAA (yep, 4 A’s) batteries, and are used in some electronic gear like calculators? And that they can be used in place of AAA (only 3) batteries?

If not, or if you just like that kind of quality scientific experimentation the blag is for you.
